THE BEST SERIES TO WATCH RIGHT NOW
As I’m sure most of you know, we’re currently living through a pandemic. A lot of people are working from home, quarantining themselves, or just staying in, So, I thought I’d write up my favourite series and documentaries to save you the endless scrolling on Netflix with no idea what to watch! Feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments section too!
This Is Us - Really nice feel good, easy watching and suitable for everyone series following the lives of two parents and their three children. Available on Amazon Prime
The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez - follows the trial of a NFL star accused of murder (documentary). Available on Netflix
Chernobyl - story of the nuclear power plant disaster in Chernobyl. This is amazing, so interesting and just mind blowing. Available on sky.
Fahrenheit 11/9 - Michael Moore documentary examining the impact of Donald Trump’s presidency. Available on Netflix
The Capture - BBC drama about a kidnapping, and the use of CCTV. Available on BBC
Luther - British Detective Series with Idris Elba. This one is quite scary... I didn’t get in a taxi for weeks. Available on Netflix
Happy Valley - British Crime/Detective Drama based in a small village. Not particularly scary but really realistic. Available on Netflix and BBC iPlayer
Line of Duty - British Crime/Detective drama. Super dramatic and addictive. Available on BBC and Netflix.
Bodyguard - British Crime about a prime ministers bodyguard and their relationship. Really recommend this one. Available on Netflix and BBC
Stranger - British Mystery Drama about a woman who goes missing. Addictive watch. Available on Netflix
Safe - very similar to above, similar storyline. Both set in and around Manchester. Available on Netflix
Unbelievable - US drama/crime drama about a serial rapist and the different victims stories. Available on Netflix
Stacey Dooley documentaries on BBC iPlayer - recently brought out a new one about Mental Health Services in the UK. Quite harrowing but interesting. Also her “at home with” series are really interesting.
When they see us - reenacting the case of the Central Park 5, a group of black and Latino teens, wrongly convicted for the rape and attempted murder of a woman. Available on Netflix
Gossip Girl - lighthearted American series about high school and secrets. Addictive. Available on Netflix
Blackfish - documentary about Seaworld and the whales kept there. So fascinating. Available on Netflix
The People v OJ Simpson - follows OJ Simpsons murder investigation, with Robert Kardashian defending. Available on Netflix.
Afterlife - Ricky Gervais kinda emotional comedy about how he lives after he loses his wife. Available on Netflix
Miss Americana - Taylor Swift Documentary about her career. Really good watch. Available on Netflix
Any Louis Theroux Documentary because I’m just obsessed with. His newest ones are on BBC iPlayer.
Silent Witness - Crime drama following pathologists investigating deaths. I love this series it’s one of my favourites. Available on BBC iPlayer.
Don’t Fuck With Cats - disturbing documentary about a guy posting videos on the internet and trying to catch him. Really weird and a bit distressing at points but fascinating.
Top Boy - British crime/drama. Watch the first season first (Summerhouse). It’s about gangs and drug culture in London, UK. Available on Netflix
Drive to Survive - one that my boyf has been obsessed with. If you’re into cars or formula one you’ll love this. Available on Netflix
Dogs - Such a nice lighthearted watch to make your heart happy. Available on Netflix.
Dynasties - David Attenborough - don’t need to say anymore. Available on BBC iPlayer.
Suits - US Legal Drama. Loads of episodes a good one to binge on. Available on Netflix
Tell Me Who I Am - documentary about two twins, one of which lost their memory. Available on Netflix
YOU - watch both seasons. US mystery/crime drama about a stalker. Addictive. Available on Netflix
Manhunt: Unabomber - True Crime Thriller about the FBI chasing a terrorist. Available on Netflix
Jack Whitehall Travel with my Father - Funny series following Jack Whitehall travelling around with his dad. Available on Netflix
Cheer - US series following cheerleading teams. Easy watch. Available on Netflix
Tyson Fury - documentary following Tyson Fury’s comeback. Interesting even if you don’t like boxing. Available on ITV
Sex Education - funny series following high school students and exploring sex and relationships
